FIX: COM Transaction Integrator calls fail intermittently when the calls use the USERID feature, the PASSWORD feature, and the REOverride feature in Host Integration Server 2000 (892511)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

SYMPTOMS

COM Transaction Integrator (COMTI) calls fail intermittently under load conditions. This problem occurs when the COMTI calls use the USERID feature, the PASSWORD feature, and the REOverride feature.

Note These new features are discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 839038.

When this problem occurs, the following error messages may be logged in the Application log:
  • Message 1
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: COMTI Admin
    Event Category: MORE
    Event ID: 2000
    Date: date
    Time: time
    User: N/A
    Computer: ServerName
Description: (2000) COM Transaction Integrator Manager objects failed in loading a Remote Environment description:

    Remote Environment Identifier: {CC5B2496-4B57-4E66-AF6C-C88DD07FF6E0}

Exception description: (2100) Registry keys initialized during installation of COM Transaction Integrator software are missing or have been corrupted.
    Location: '0xf'
    Exception: '0x6'

EXPLANATION A management object could not retrieve information about a Remote Environment. This failure may indicate that information in the registry has been corrupted or lost, or that resources may be temporarily unavailable.

    ACTION
Close all applications. Start the COMTI Manager. Navigate to the My Computer item in the Microsoft Transaction Server folder and perform a Shut Down Server Processes command. Select the Remote Environments folder. If the COMTI Manager reports the presence of corrupted Remote Environment descriptions, review the information in the NT Event Log for messages providing more detailed information about the problem. If necessary, delete and create new Remote Environment descriptions.
If the COMTI Manager continues to report corrupted Remote Environment descriptions, contact support. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://support.microsoft.com.
  • Message 2
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: COMTI Admin
    Event Category: MOREC
    Event ID: 2001
    Date: date
    Time: time
    User: N/A
    Computer: ServerName
Description: (2001) COM Transaction Integrator management objects failed in loading Remote Environment class information:

    Remote Environment Class ID:
    {6F5169CE-6835-11d0-8C39-00C04FC2F9BC}

Exception description: (2100) Registry keys initialized during installation of COM Transaction Integrator software are missing or have been corrupted.
    Location: '0x15'
    Exception: '0x6'

EXPLANATION A management object could not retrieve information about a Remote Environment class. This may indicate that an older version of the Snapin is remotely accessing a later version which is not supported. Otherwise, information in the registry could have been corrupted or lost, or resources may be temporarily unavailable.

ACTION If the Exception description above shows a version 'RECn', you are remotely accessing a COMTI version more recent than the one installed locally. Uplevel remote admin is not supported, but downlevel works with some restrictions. If possible, upgrade the local computer's COMTI software to the same version as the remote computer.
Otherwise, close all applications, and start the COMTI Manager.
If the COMTI Manager continues to report corrupted Remote Environment class descriptions, reinstall the COM Transaction Integrator product.
If failures continue to be reported, contact support. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://support.microsoft.com.
  • Message 3

    Event Source: COMTI
    Event Category: General

ACTION The exception may be caused by communication problems or errors in your host application. See the exception description for corrective actions. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://support.microsoft.com.
