The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When a user tries to import a Managed Object Format (MOF) file by using the Import Object Wizard in Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, the wizard cannot locate the file. Therefore, the file is not imported.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the SMS user rights are assigned to a user group account where the user account resides and are not assigned to the user account.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, assign user rights for all instances of the Query class to the user account. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Systems Management Server 2003, and then click SMS Administrator Console.
  2. In the SMS Administrator console, expand Site Database (SiteCode-SiteName), right-click Security, click All Tasks, and then click Manage SMS Users to start the SMS User Wizard.
  3. On the Welcome SMS User page, click Next.
  4. On the User Name page, click Add a new user, and then click Browse.
  5. In the Add Users and Groups dialog box, click the user account, click OK, and then click Next.
  6. On the Rights page, click Add another right or modify an existing one, and then click Next.
  7. On the Add a Right page, click the list next to Class, and then select Query.
  8. Click the list next to Instance, click (All instances), click Select All, and then click Next.
  9. On the Rights page, click The listed rights sufficient, and then click Next.
  10. On the Completing the SMS Wizard page, click Finish.
