Some Group Policy settings may be displayed in Extra Registry Settings in the Group Policy Management console in Windows XP SP2 (890955)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
SYMPTOMSWhen you modify a Group Policy object in Microsoft Windows XP, some settings that you modify may be displayed in an Extra Registry Settings section in the Group Policy Management console.CAUSEThis behavior may occur when you modify the Group Policy object by using a Windows XP-based computer that has Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed.
Windows XP SP2 introduces version 5 of Group Policy Administrative Templates (.adm) files. The Group Policy Management console cannot correctly interpret certain settings in version 5 .adm files. Therefore, it displays these settings in the Extra Registry Settings section.
Note This behavior does not affect how Group Policy functions. The effect of this behavior is limited to the display of this information in the Group Policy Management console.
