SYMPTOMSWhen you try to play a media file in Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1, the file does not play, and you receive the following error message: 0xc00d2711 (NS_E_DRM_INVALID_APPLICATION) . CAUSEThis issue may occur when the following conditions are true: - The file that you are trying to play is a protected file that requires digital rights management (DRM) individualization 2.5.
- You are using Windows Media Player 7.1 on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer.
Windows Media Player 7.1 on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer does not support DRM individualization 2.5. MORE INFORMATIONIndividualization is a process that updates the DRM security components of your media player. If a new version of DRM individualization is available, Windows Media Player will display an option to update to the newer version.
Windows Media Player 7.1 continues to play back content using DRM individualization 2.4.
