The custom invoice template is not available when you try to print by using the template in Money 2005 Small Business (890398)

SYMPTOMS

After you create a custom invoice template by using the Microsoft Money Invoice Designer for Microsoft Money 2005 Small Business, the custom template is not available when you try to print by using the template. For example, when you click Preview invoice printing, the custom template does not appear in the Select a template list.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the .ntd file that is associated with the custom templates is marked as read-only.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Quit Money 2005 Small Business.
  2. Click Start, and then click Search.
  3. Click All files and folders.
  4. In the All or part of the file name box, type *.ntd.
  5. In the Look in list, click Local Hard Drives (Drive:).
  6. Click More advanced options.
  7. Click to select the Search hidden files and folders check box. Also, make sure that the Search subfolders check box is selected.
  8. Click Search.

    Note By default, the Money 2005 *.ntd files are located in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Money\14.0\Invoice folder.
  9. In the Search Results window, right-click an .ntd file that is located in the Drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Money\14.0\Invoice folder, and then click Properties.
  10. On the General tab, click to clear the Read-only check box.
  11. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  12. Repeat steps 9 through 11 for any other *.ntd files that are located in the Drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Money\14.0\Invoice folder.
  13. Close the Search Results window.
  14. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Money 2005, and then click Money Invoice Designer.
  15. Re-create your custom template. To do this, click the Create new template option, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
  16. When you are finished, save the template, and then exit Money Invoice Designer.
  17. Start Money 2005 Small Business.
  18. Click Business.
  19. Click an invoice, and then click Preview invoice printing under Common tasks.
Your template should now appear in the Select a template list when you try to print by using the template.
