WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, you must use Recovery Console
to enable the mouse and keyboard services. To do this, you must have previously
captured an International
Organization for Standardization (ISO)
CD image or a physical CD that contains the Windows Setup program for Microsoft
Windows 2000 Professional
or for Microsoft Windows XP .
Alternatively, you
must have
installed Recovery
Console to the guest operating system. Otherwise,
you will not be able to restore the guest operating
system on the virtual machine.
Note You may not be able to start a virtual machine in Virtual PC 2004
SP1 from a third-party startup CD or from an ISO file that contains a
third-party startup CD image.

information about third-party startup CDs, click the following article number

To use Recovery Console, follow these

drive and that you have the Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup CD
