Issues that you may experience after you convert the data file for your version of Money to Money 2005 (889246)

SYMPTOMSAfter you convert your data file to Microsoft Money 2005, you may experience one or more of the following issues: CAUSEThese issues may occur if you converted your data file from an earlier version of Money to Money 2005 before you downloaded and installed the updates for Money 2005 that are available.RESOLUTIONTo resolve these issues, reconvert your data file after you make sure that the updates have been downloaded and installed for Money 2005. To do this, follow these steps. Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Start Money 2005.
- On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Money.
- Verify that the version of Money 2005 that is installed is 14.X.X.1105 or a later version, and then click OK.
Note In this example, X.X will be a different number depending on the SKU that is installed.
If you have an earlier version of Money 2005 installed, follow these steps:- On the Tools menu, point to Internet Updates, and then click Update Now.
- Click Yes when you are prompted to install the updates.
- After the updates are installed, click Exit on the File menu to quit Money 2005.
- Restart the computer.
- Restart Money 2005.
- On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Money.
- Verify that the version of Money 2005 that is installed is 14.X.X.1105 or a later version, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Money 2005.
- Click Start, and then click Search.
- Click All files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type one of the following:
- *.m12 if your earlier version of Money was Microsoft Money 2004.
- *.m11 if your earlier version of Money was Microsoft Money 2003.
- *.m10 if your earlier version of Money was Microsoft Money 2002.
- *.m09 if your earlier version of Money was Microsoft Money 2001.
Note If you locate an *.m14 file in your search, do not try to reconvert it. This file appears if you have already installed the update for Money 2005. - After you locate the data file for your version of Money, follow these steps:
- Make a note of the location and the file name of the found file.
- In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate the file that you noted in step 8a.
- Right-click the file, and then click Copy.
- Right-click in a blank area in the same folder where you found the file in step 8b, and then click Paste. A copy of the file (Copy of file name) appears.
- Right-click Copy of file name, and then click Rename.
- Type a new file name for your Money data file that has an extension of .mny such as My Money.mny, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click your Money data file--for example, double-click My Money.mny.
- Click Yes to convert your Money data file.
- After your Money data file is converted, check your data file for errors. To do this, point to Repair Money File on the File menu, and then click Quick File Repair.
