Systems Management Server Setup cannot continue because of the following error:

Note The rest of the error message describes a prerequisite for the installation of SMS 2003 SP1.
  2. When you run the Deployment Readiness Wizard on the secondary site server, you receive one of the following error messages:

The Deployment Readiness Wizard requires that Systems Management Server 2.0 or higher be installed on this computer and that the computer be a primary site server.

Setup cannot upgrade this site because the Deployment Readiness Wizard has not yet run successfully on this site. Prior to upgrade, the wizard must run all tests without any errors.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you have not run the Deployment Readiness Wizard on the primary site server and selected the secondary site where you want to apply SMS 2003 SP1.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, run the Deployment Readiness Wizard on the primary site server, and then select the secondary site where you want to apply SMS 2003 SP1. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Obtain the SMS 2003 SP1 Deployment Readiness Wizard. For additional information about how to obtain the Deployment Readiness Wizard, see the "More Information" section.
  2. Start the Deployment Readiness Wizard (Drw.exe) on the primary site server, and then click Next.
  3. On the Site Selection page of the wizard, click to select Analyze one or more direct child secondary sites, and then click Next.
  4. On the Secondary Sites page of the wizard, click to select the secondary sites that you want the wizard to test and to report on, and then click Next.
  5. On the Tests page of the wizard, click to select the tests that you want to perform on the secondary site servers that you selected in step 4, click Next, and then click Finish to initiate the tests.
  6. If any secondary sites fail the tests on the Program and results summary page of the wizard, you must take steps to correct the problems, and then run the Deployment Readiness Wizard again.
  7. You must repeat this process until the secondary site servers where you want to apply SMS 2003 SP1 pass the Deployment Readiness Wizard tests.
After the secondary site passes the Deployment Readiness Wizard tests, you can apply SMS 2003 SP1 to the secondary site.
