Kerberos authentication server requests are also known as KRB_AS_REQ messages. The following Event message appears in the Security log on domain controllers:Event Source: Security
Event Category: Account Logon
Event ID: 675
Description:
Pre-authentication failed:
User Name: <ExchangeServer>$
User ID: <user sid>
Service Name: krbtgt/<domain>
Pre-Authentication Type: 0x2
Failure Code: 0x18
Client Address: <ip address>This scenario can also cause unnecessary traffic on the domain controllers and delays on the mail servers. Additionally, user passwords are automatically changed every 30 days by default.
