Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 hotfix package for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 hotfix package that is dated October 25, 2004.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
  • Portal areas are not listed in the Save As dialog box of a Microsoft Office 2003 program when a user tries to save an Office 2003 document to SharePoint Portal Server 2003

    A user tries to save an Office 2003 document to an area of the portal site. To do this, the user clicks Save As on the File menu of an Office 2003 program such as Microsoft Office Word 2003, and then clicks the name of the server that is running SharePoint Portal Server 2003 in the Save in box. A list of the different areas of the portal site where the user can save the document is not displayed in the Web page that appears in the Save As dialog box. Instead, the Web page displays an option to save the document to the document library or to the image library.

    This issue occurs if the user does not have permission to access a particular area of the portal site. Even though the user has permission to access other areas of the portal site, no areas are listed in the Save As dialog box when the user tries to save an Office 2003 document to the server.
