SYMPTOMS

When you format a CD-RW or a DVD-RW and then remove and re-insert the medium in a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, a second CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive appears in Windows Explorer. The second CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive uses the same drive letter as the first CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Explorer may not update correctly in this circumstance.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, press F5 to update Windows Explorer.
