You cannot create a program when you use the Distribute Software Wizard in Systems Management Server 2003 (886105)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Distribute Software Wizard to distribute a package that includes no program, the wizard does not offer the option to create a program in the package.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, create the program before you distribute the package. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the SMS Administrator console.
  2. Double-click Site Database (Site_code-Site_name).
  3. Double-click Packages, and then double-click the node for the package that you want to distribute.
  4. Right-click Programs, click New, and then click Program.
  5. Create a new program in the package, and then click OK.

  6. Right-click Packages, select All Tasks, and then click Distribute Software.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click a package in Packages, and then click Next to distribute the package.
