FIX: Internet Explorer may quit unexpectedly if a simple integer value is entered in the Address bar (885282)

SYMPTOMS

If a simple integer value is entered in the Address bar of the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser control, the browser may quit with an exception. For example, type the string 20 as the URL, and this problem may occur.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole operating system. To perform a clean build of the operating system, follow these steps:
  1. On the Build menu, click Clean.
  2. On the Build menu, click Build Platform.
You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
