Members of the Users administrative group and of the Power Users administrative group cannot access the SCSIAdapter class registry entry after you install Windows 2000 SP4 (884497)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4

INTRODUCTION

When you install Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4), the SCSIAdapter class registry entry is strengthened so that members of the Users administrative group and of the Power Users administrative group cannot access the SCSIAdapter class registry entry. Administrators can access the SCSIAdapter class registry entry.

MORE INFORMATION

The following change was made to the SCSI.inf file in Windows 2000 SP4:

" HKR,,Security,,"D:P(A;;GAFA;;;SY)(A;;GAFA;;;BA)" "

After you install Windows 2000 SP4, issues may occur because of changes in the SCSIAdapter class registry entry. For example, members of the Users administrative group and of the Power Users administrative group cannot use some disk management tools on a Windows 2000 SP4-based computer that they could use on a Windows 2000 SP3-based computer.
