FIX: You may receive an error message when multiple threads in your Java application try to obtain a pooled connection (883832)

SYMPTOMS

A multithread Java application uses the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC with pooled connections. When multiple threads try to obtain a pooled connection after an associated connection handle has been correctly closed, you may receive the following error message:
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Pooled connection reclaimation not supported.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
