Operator Console displays "Unknown" in the Operating System Type column for some devices in Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (883331)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Operations Manager 2005
SYMPTOMSThe Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Operator Console displays "Unknown" in the Operating System Type column of the Computers window for some computers. However, the Computer Details window displays the correct Microsoft Windows versions.CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Operating System Type column does not indicate the operating system version.
Instead, it indicates whether a computer is a workstation, a server, or a domain controller. For example, the Operator Console displays "Unknown" in the Operating System Type column for the following devices: - Cluster member computers
- Network devices
- UNIX-based or Linux-based computers
- Proxy-managed computers
- Computers that are discovered by Service Discovery
STATUSThis behavior is expected.
