SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Administrator Console on an SMS parent site server to modify the Standard Sender Address properties for a child site, you may receive the following error message in the SMS Administrator Console:
Windows Title: Standard Sender Address
Message Text: Please enter a three-letter site code.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The child site for the address that you want to modify was installed by a custom unattended installation script.
  • The SiteName property that is contained in the custom unattended installation script is longer than 56 characters.
Note When you manually run the Setup.exe program to install a new SMS 2003 site, the Systems Management Server Setup Wizard does not let you use a site name that is longer than 56 characters.
