Your recently used address list contains spam e-mail addresses or other unsolicited commercial e-mail addresses in Microsoft Entourage X for Mac (873023)

SYMPTOMS

When you type an e-mail address in the To box of an e-mail message in Microsoft Entourage X for Mac, your address list contains spam e-mail addresses or other unsolicited commercial e-mail addresses.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the recently used address list in Entourage X for Mac retains e-mail addresses from both sent e-mail messages and received e-mail messages in your address book.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, you can use one of the following methods

Method 1: Clear your list of recently used addresses

You can clear your list of recently used addresses to work around this issue. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Mail & News Preferences on the Entourage menu.
  2. Click the Compose tab.
  3. Click Clear list in the Recent Address area.
  4. Click OK.
Note This method only affects your recently used address list. It does not affect your address book.

Method 2: Turn off the recently used address list feature

You can turn off the recently used address list feature to work around this issue. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Mail & News Preferences on the Entourage menu.
  2. Click the Compose tab.
  3. Click to clear the Display a list of recently used addresses when addressing messages check box.
  4. Click OK.
