SYMPTOMS

When you use the Edit Site utility to create a Microsoft Project Web Access Web site for a server that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, the path of the Viewdrop folder contains only the Project server name, and not the full path of the Viewdrop folder.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Views Notification service has been offloaded to another Project server.

WORKAROUND

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To work around this problem, you must manually update the ViewsFileDrop registry entry to contain the correct path of the Viewdrop folder. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MS Project\WebClient Server\ProjectServer\Datasets\ViewsFileDrop

  3. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  4. Type \\server_name\full_path_to_Viewdrop_folder, and then press ENTER.
