When playing Solitaire (SOL.EXE) in Windows for the first time after
installation, random card backs are displayed. If you select Deck from the
Games menu, then select a card back for the first time, it will disable the
ability to have random card backs as before.
CAUSE
To enable Windows 3.1 Solitaire to choose random backs:
- Delete the BACKS= entry from the SOL.INI file in the \WINDOWS
directory.
-or-
- Delete the SOL.INI file from the \WINDOWS directory.
In Windows 3.0, user-selected options for Solitaire are stored within the
WIN.INI file in the [solitaire] section.
To enable Windows 3.0 Solitaire to choose random backs, delete the entire
[solitaire] section from the WIN.INI file.
In Windows 3.1, Solitaire doesn't write entries to the WIN.INI file.
Instead, it creates a SOL.INI file once any non-default option is selected.
