Slides that are saved in TIFF format in PowerPoint 2003 and in PowerPoint 2002 are of a lower quality than the slides that are save in PowerPoint 2000 (842318)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
SYMPTOMSSlides that are saved in Tag Image File Format (TIFF) format
in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 and in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 are of a
lower quality than the slides that are saved in Microsoft PowerPoint
2000.CAUSEThis problem occurs because Microsoft Office 2003 renders
images at a slightly higher dots-per-inch (DPI) rate than Microsoft Office XP
(96 dpi vs. 72 dpi). In Microsoft Office 2000, the images are saved to a
different picture format by outputting the text into Microsoft Windows Media
Format (WMF), and then using a converter to convert to TIFF format and other
picture formats that cause higher-quality images.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, save the image in Enhanced Meta
File (EMF) format, instead of in TIFF format. EMF format contains all the
information to render the image in full quality. To save the slides in EMF
format, follow these steps:
- In PowerPoint 2003, click File, and then
click Save As.
- In the File name box, type a name for the
slide.
- In the Save as type list, click
Enhanced Meta File.
- Click Save.
- When you receive the Do you want to export every
slide in the presentation or only the current slide? dialog box, click
Every slide.
- Click Ok.
The slides are saved in EMF format without a loss of image
quality.
