BUG: You receive incorrect results when you use an ss Diff command on a very large text file in Visual SourceSafe 6.0d (841966)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run an ss Diff command in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0d on a text file that has more than 102,400 lines in it, lines after 102,400 appear to be different although they are the same.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a limitation in the size of data that the SS.exe program can handle.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0d service pack that contains this hotfix.
