Generic icons appear in the Web Collections folder of Clip Organizer in Office XP programs (839656)

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Office XP program, when you click a folder in the Web Collections folder that contains clip art from Microsoft Office Online in Clip Organizer, you may see generic icons instead of seeing thumbnails.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if all the following conditions are true:
  • Your computer is behind a proxy server.
  • The proxy server challenges users for their user name and password, and the Remember my password option is removed by a Microsoft Windows policy.

To access clip art from Microsoft Office Online, follow these steps:
  1. Start an Office XP program, such as Microsoft Word 2002.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
  3. On the Insert Clip Art task pane, click Clip Organizer.
  4. In the Collection List, expand the Web Collections folder.
  5. Expand the Microsoft Office Online folder.
