SYMPTOMS

When you disconnect a CardBus Compact Flash (CF) adapter, your computer may stop unexpectedly, and you may receive the following stop error in Pci.sys on a blue screen:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...
Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xAAAAAAAA, 0xBBBBBBBB, 0xCCCCCCCC, 0xDDDDDDDD)
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Note The four parameters in this error message may vary depending on the cause of the stop error.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you remove the CardBus adapter from the computer after a file transfer or after editing a file on the Compact Flash card.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Windows Server 2003

There is currently no fix for this problem in Windows Server 2003.

Microsoft Windows XP

Microsoft Windows 2000

There is currently no fix for this problem in Windows 2000.
