BUG: An access violation exception may occur in the ASPNET_WP.exe process when you view a report that is based on an Oracle data source in SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services (839564)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view a report by using Report Manager, an access violation exception may occur in the ASPNET_WP.exe process that is running on your computer. You may not be able to view the report successfully, and you may receive the following error message:

Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.


This problem may occur if the report is based on an Oracle data source that uses the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle to access the data.

Note The same report may display correctly when you preview the report by using Report Designer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Microsoft .NET Managed Provider for Oracle to access the data.
