MORE INFORMATION

You can use connectivity verifiers to monitor or poll the status of upstream computers and downstream computers. You can also use connectivity verifiers to monitor networks that ISA Server 2004 manages.

When you configure connectivity verifiers, a request is sent every 2 minutes to computers or networks that you have selected to be monitored. If the monitored computers or networks do not respond, the connectivity verifier generates a message under the monitoring feature in the ISA Server Management snap-in.

To create a connectivity verifier in ISA Server 2004, follow these steps:
  1. Open the ISA Server Management snap-in, expand YourServerName, and then click Monitoring.
  2. In the center pane, click the Connectivity tab.
  3. Click the Task tab, and then click Create New Connectivity Verifier in the right pane.
  4. In the New Connectivity Verifier Wizard dialog box, type a name for the connectivity verifier, and then click Next.
  5. In the connectivity details, click the browse button (...), select the computer that you want to monitor, and then click OK.
  6. Click to select the appropriate option for Group used to categorize this connectivity verifier.
  7. In the verification method details, select the appropriate option.
  8. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  9. In the center pane, click Apply.
By default, the connectivity verifier generates a message if the computer that is selected does not respond in the allocated time. To specify the timeout response, follow these steps:
  1. Open the ISA Server Management snap-in, expand YourServerName, and then click Monitoring.
  2. In the center pane, click the Connectivity tab, right-click the appropriate verifier, and then click Properties.
  3. In the ConnectivityVerifierName Properties dialog box, click Properties.
  4. In the timeout details, change the response time to the appropriate time, and then click OK.
  5. In the center pane, click Apply.
