FIX: You cannot use Wi-Fi Protected Access-Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) authentication to roam between access points (839193)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2

SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft Windows CE .NET-based device does not reconnect to the wireless network when the following conditions are true:
  • The device is configured to use Wi-Fi Protected Access-Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) authentication.
  • The device moves to a different access point on the same wireless network.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because an internal reference count that is related to the packet sequence is not reset when the device starts the authentication process with a new access point. Therefore, when the device receives a response from the access point, the response is considered not valid.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this hotfix, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu.

Hotfix replacement information
