Microsoft CRM 1.2 Post URL action fails when calling a Web service or Web application that performs a long running operation (839163)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft CRM 1.2, when the Post URL action in Workflow calls a Web service that does not respond in 10000 milliseconds, the workflow step fails and the following error may occur in Workflow Monitor:
Error in action posturl. Failed to connect to url http://localhost/mywebservice.asmx/mywebmethod d:\mscrm\build3017\src\platform\workflow\service\processengine.inl line 5202.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
