SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2003-based device, the insertion point may not move when you press the vertical arrow keys.

This behavior may occur when you are in the Notes field of the Tasks application, in the Calendar application, or in the Contacts application. Additionally, this behavior may occur when you use either the navigation pad or a snap-on keyboard device.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the stylus to tap where you want to enter information. Alternatively, press the SHIFT key before you press a vertical arrow key.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Start one of the following applications on the device: Tasks, Contacts, or Calendar.
  2. Create a new item, and then enter several lines of text.
  3. Press the vertical arrow keys on the snap-on keyboard to move the insertion point up or down. The insertion point does not move.
