You receive an error message when you try to export a map from Streets and Trips or from MapPoint to Pocket Streets (838714)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to export a map from Microsoft Streets and Trips or from MapPoint to Microsoft Pocket Streets, you may receive the following error message:
The selected area is too large, please select a smaller area.

CAUSE

The issue may occur if the map area is too large.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, export a smaller map. To select a map area to export, draw a box around the area that you want to export. To do this, hold down your mouse button, and then drag the pointer diagonally across the area that you want to select.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004.

MORE INFORMATION

This issue typically occurs at the 100-150 mile zoom level, depending on the area that is selected.
