FIX: You receive an HTTP 401.2 error message when you use SSL client certificate mapping (838645)

SYMPTOMS

You have a Web site that has a virtual directory that is configured to use only Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) client certificate mapping. The content in that virtual directory has links to content in another virtual directory that is configured to use only Anonymous authentication. You receive the following error message every other time that a page is requested:
HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration
