You receive a "Failed to create subscription database" error message during BizTalk Server 2004 setup (837862)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 by using the Setup program, when you configure databases and then you try to give the same name to multiple components, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
"Failed to create subscription database "BizTalkMgmtDb"

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because BizTalk Server 2004 does not support one database for multiple roles and components.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a separate database for each component during database setup when you install BizTalk Server 2004.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
