You receive an "'Activeview.columnaxis' is null or not an object" error message when you use Health and Activity Tracking in BizTalk Server 2006 and in BizTalk Server 2004 (836119)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 Health and Activity (HAT) tool, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components are not installed on this computer. BizTalk Server Health and Activity Tracking (HAT) requires Office 2003 Web Components. Install Office 2003 Web Components to resolve this problem. You may need to manually register the OWC11.dll file in some cases.

When you try to run a query from the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 HAT tool, you receive the following error message:

The following error occurred while executing your query: 'ActiveView.ColumnAxis' is null or not an object

CAUSE

This issue can occur if one of the following conditions is true:

Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components is not installed on the computer that is running BizTalk Server 2006. The BizTalk Server 2006 HAT tool requires Office 2003 Web Components.
Microsoft Office XP Web Components is not installed on the computer that is running BizTalk Server 2004. The BizTalk Server 2004 HAT tool requires Office XP Web Components.

RESOLUTION

Install Office 2003 Web Components or Office XP Web Components on your computer that is running BizTalk Server. To download Office XP Web Components visit the following Microsoft Web site:

This behavior is by design.

The BizTalk Server 2004 HAT tool is dependent on the OWC10.dll file that is installed with Office XP Web Components. The OWC10.dll file is not installed with Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components. If you have installed Office 2003 Web Components on your computer that is running BizTalk Server 2004, you still must install Office XP Web Components for BizTalk Server HAT to function correctly.
