892996 A custom transform (MST) file does not copy additional files to user profile folders that were redirected to the network in Office 2003

  • When you install Microsoft Office 2003 on a computer by using a custom transform that adds additional files, the installation of Office 2003 may not be completed successfully.

    Note This problem may occur if the added file already exists on the computer where you are installing Office 2003 and the Created date is significantly earlier than the Modified date of the existing file. When this scenario occurs, the added file is not copied and the custom action that verifies that the added file was not corrupted during installation does not complete successfully. This causes a critical failure.

    The name of the custom action that does not complete successfully will start with OCW_Verify_ as shown in the following sample:
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Executing op: ActionStart(Name=OCW_Verify_User_Settings_Files,
    Description=Verifying custom default settings,)
    Action 10:12:02: OCW_Verify_User_Settings_Files. Verifying custom
    default settings
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Executing op: CustomActionSchedule
    (Action=OCW_Verify_User_Settings_Files,ActionType=3073,Source=BinaryData,
    Target=_OCW_Verify_User_Settings_Files@4,CustomActionData=C:\Documents and
    Settings\tuser\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat*5067A31EB63B551D025B15D6DF2DABDF
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Creating MSIHANDLE (5280) of type 790536 for thread 3988
    Action ended 10:12:02: InstallExecute. Return value 3.

    Earlier in the log, you may find an entry that shows an added file that did not copy that is similar to the following log entry:
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Executing op: SetSourceFolder(Folder=C:\DOCUME~1\tuser\LOCALS~1\Temp\)
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Executing op: SetTargetFolder(Folder=C:\Documents and Settings\tuser\
    Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\)
    MSI (s) (2C:94): Executing op: FileCopy(SourceName=~OCW0008.TMP,,DestName=outcmd.dat,
    Attributes=32,FileSize=990,PerTick=32768,IsCompressed=0,VerifyMedia=0,,,,,,,,InstallMode=262144,,,,,,)
    MSI (s) (2C:94): File: C:\Documents and Settings\tuser\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat;
    Won't Overwrite;  No patch;  Existing file is unversioned but modified
