The buttons to change channels do not work for DVDs in Media Center (833917)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
SYMPTOMSWhile you view a DVD in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, if you press either the Channel Up (+) button or the Channel Down (-) button, nothing happens. The channel does not change as expected on DVD playback.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the buttons do not have any intended functionality when you view a DVD. Although the [+] and [-] buttons appear to be available (that is, the buttons do not appear grayed out) on the Media Center playback toolbar, you cannot use the buttons on either the remote or the MCE playback
toolbar. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.MORE INFORMATIONTechnical supportBecause your hardware device or system includes the Microsoft Windows XP Media
Center Edition 2004 software, the hardware

as specific device drivers and optional settings to maximize the performance of
that manufacturer's hardware. If you require technical help with Windows XP
Media Center Edition, contact your manufacturer directly. The
