You cannot remove a distribution point from the package properties while the distribution point is being updated (833418)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove a Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 distribution point from a package in the SMS Administrator console while the SMS Distribution Manager updates the package files on the distribution point, SMS may not remove the distribution point from the package properties, and the distribution point may retain the package files.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because SMS Distribution Manager cannot make any changes to the package properties while files are copying to the distribution point.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, make sure that the package files replicate to all the distribution points before you remove a distribution point from the package properties in the SMS Administrator Console.
