File names do not display correctly in the File Download dialog box in Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 (832930)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to download a file from a Web site in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the file name may not appear correctly in the File Download dialog box. The file name does appear correctly in the Save As dialog box.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if you specify a Korean Character (ECU-KR-encoded) string as the file name in the Content-Disposition header, and you click to clear the Always send URLs as UTF-8 check box in Internet Explorer 6 SP1. For example, the Content-Disposition header may be similar to the following header: Content-disposition: attachment; filename=%C6%F7%BD%BA%C4%DA112.xls When you try to download this file, the file name in the File Download dialog box appears as 112.xls without the Korean characters. When you click Save in the File Download dialog box, the file name in the Save As dialog box appears with the Korean characters. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
