Discussions are not migrated when you upgrade from a SharePoint Team Services Web site to a Windows SharePoint Services Web site (832812)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade your SharePoint Team Service (STS) Web site to a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) Web site, discussions on your STS Web site may not be migrated to the WSS Web site.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the user who backs up the STS Web site does not have Manage Web Document Discussions permissions on the top-level Web site of the virtual server where the STS Web site is located before the upgrade.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that the user who backs up the STS Web site has Manage Web Document Discussions permissions on the top-level Web site of the virtual server that the STS Web site is located on before the upgrade.

Note By default, the administrator account has Manage Web Document Discussions permissions.
