The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open your Calendar in Outlook 2000, your Calendar does not open, and Outlook 2000 stops responding. Additionally, if you try to export your Calendar to a personal folders (.pst) file, Outlook 2000 stops responding. However, you can export your Calendar to a comma-separated value (*.csv) file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can use the following methods in the order that they are presented.

Export your Calendar as a *.csv file

Note If you export or import your Calendar data as a *.CSV or a *.TSV format file, recurrance data will be lost. A recurring appointment that extends for one year will be broken into individual appointments in the date range that is exported.

Before you try to repair your Calendar, you must export your Calendar file to a *.csv file. To export the Calendar file to a *.csv file, follow these steps:
  1. Start Outlook 2000, and then click Import and Export on the File menu.
  2. Click Export to a File, and then click Next.
  3. Click Comma separated value (windows), and then click Next.
  4. Click Calendar in the Select folder to export from list, and then click Next.
  5. Type Calendar_Backup.csv in the Save exported file as text box, and then click Next. Outlook 2000 will save the *.csv file in your My Document folder.
  6. Select a range of dates, and then click Next.
  7. Click Finish, and the file will be exported.

Delete the Calendar with the MDBView utility

You can delete the Calendar from an Outlook 2000 user account with the MDBView (MDBVU32.exe) utility. The MDBView utility is located on the Microsoft Exchange Server CD in the <CD-ROM_Drive>\Server\Support\Utils\I386 folder.
