The computer screen does not appear on your TV when you resume the computer from standby (831581)

SYMPTOMS

When you press the power button on the remote control to resume a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center-based computer from standby, the computer screen does not appear on your TV.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Media Center-based computer does not receive the notification that the power button on the remote control was pressed. When this problem occurs, Media Center resumes from standby, but the screen does not appear on your TV.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, when you resume from standby, press and hold the remote control power button for several seconds. If this does not cause the screen to appear, move the mouse or press one or more buttons on the remote control.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
