FIX: The Domain Name System (DNS) Proxy Is Not Available Without the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Allocator (830907)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2

SYMPTOMS

You cannot resolve domain names when you use a device that is configured as a gateway and when the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) allocator is disabled (the default setting).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Domain Name System (DNS) proxy component (that resolves domain names) does not work if the DHCP allocator component is disabled.

RESOLUTION

This update permits the DNS proxy component to work even if the DHCP allocator is disabled.
