SYMPTOMS

When you click Windows Server 2003 Help in the Microsoft Windows Windows Small Business Server 2003 Help and Support Center, you may receive the following message:To display language characters correctly you need to install the following language pack:

JapaneseWhether or not you install the language pack, you may see Japanese characters and other non-English characters in some of the Help topics.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a Japanese-language Help file was delivered to the English version of Small Business Server 2003. The Japanese-language file has the following file attributes:

   Date         Size     File name
   -------------------------------
   09-Sep-2003  154,316  Ntdef.chm

This problem occurs only in the English-language version of Windows Small Business Server 2003.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To resolve this problem, download and install the hotfix from the following Microsoft Web site:

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
