PivotTable Is Recalculated and CPU Use Is Near 100% When You Use an OLAP Database (830756)

  • Microsoft Excel 2002

SYMPTOMS

If you open a published Microsoft Excel file that contains a PivotTable that is connected to an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) database, CPU use may approach 100% and the PivotTable may be recalculated.

Note To view your CPU use, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open Windows Task Manager.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when you do either of the following actions:
  • You rest your mouse on a cell in the PivotTable control.
  • You put a browser window over the PivotTable control in the workbook and then you make the browser window the active window.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior when you rest your mouse on a cell in the PivotTable control, follow these steps:
  1. Click Commands and Options.
  2. On the Report tab, click to clear the ScreenTips check box.
  3. Click the Close button at the upper right corner of the Commands and Options dialog box.
