Important Before you install this update, make sure that you meet the
following requirements:
- You have Microsoft Project Server 2002
installed.
- You have Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 or later
installed.

How to download and install the update
To update your installation of Microsoft Project Server 2002 to
Microsoft Project Server 2002 SP1, follow these steps:
Note We strongly recommend that you back up your project plan database
before you continue to install this update. You cannot roll back or remove this
update. Backups of the database should be done before you run the Microsoft
Project Server Service Pack 1 SQL update. Additionally, we strongly recommend
that you back up your Microsoft SharePoint database if applicable.
- In Windows Explorer, create a folder on drive C, and then
name the folder kb830240.
- Install the Microsoft Project Server Service Pack 1 SQL
update to upgrade your project plan database. To do this, follow these
steps.

Upgdb101.cmd file directly on the computer where your project plan database
resides, the Osql.exe file should already be present.
Note The Osql.exe file is also available on the Project Server 2002
CD-ROM in the \support\database folder. - Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Open box, type
cmd, and then click OK.
- Run the Upgdb101.cmd file with the following parameters
at the command prompt. To do this, type the following (without typing the
greater-than (<) or less-than (>) signs), and then press ENTER:
Upgdb101.cmd <sql server name> <database name> <system administrator account login> <system administrator account password>
Or, if you use Windows authentication SQL Server as the currently
logged in user, type the following, and then press ENTER: Upgdb101.cmd <sql server name> <database name>
Note By leaving off the system administrator account login and
password, the command file will assume Windows authentication to SQL Server. If
you supply only the SQL Server name, the command file will assume that the
database name is ProjectServer. - At the command prompt, type
exit, and then press ENTER.
- Install Project Server 2002 SP1. To do this, follow these
steps:

Windows Server 2003. If you want to run SharePoint Team Services on a computer
that is running Windows Server 2003, do not install Office XP SP3 now.

Overview of Office XP Service Pack 3 for SharePoint Team Services
After you install Office XP Service Pack 3 for
SharePoint Team Services, you must update your custom template files. To do
this, follow these steps:
- Run the Stswiz.exe file.
The Stswiz.exe file
is part of your original Project Server 2002 installation, and can be found in
the \Support folder on your Project Server 2002 CD-ROM. This will reinstall the
custom template files. - Click Provision additional SharePoint Web
sites for Project Server
- In the list of available web sites, click the Web site
where SharePoint is installed.
- Click Next
- When STSWIZ complete, click
Finish

templates. To update your existing subwebs, run the Upgwebs.cmd file from a
command line.
Note To upgrade all Microsoft Project subwebs, each subweb has to be
specified with the /w switch in the command line. - Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Open box, type
cmd, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, type
Upgwebs.cmd with the appropriate options, and then press
ENTER.

/w | Use this option to supply the existing subweb that is to

Note The sts web site is a placeholder for
something like "default web site."
- If you installed SQL Server Desktop Engine (also known as
MSDE 2000) when you installed Project Server 2002, your computer that is
running MSDE 2000 may be vulnerable to the Slammer worm.

Restart requirement
You do not have to restart your computer after you install this
update.
Other requirements
When you first locate Project Web Access after you install this
update, you may be prompted to reinstall the ActiveX controls.

To determine the version of the file from this list that is

- Click Start, and then click
Search.
- In the Search Results pane, under
Search Companion, click All files and
folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box,
type the file name of the file that you want to find, and then click
Search.
- In the list of files, right-click the found file, and then
click Properties.
- On the Version tab, determine the version
of the file that is installed on your computer.
Note If Project Server 2002 SP1 is already installed on your computer,
you receive the following error message when you try to install Project Server
2002 SP1:
This update has already been applied or is
included in an update that has already been applied.

have Windows Installer 2.0 or later installed. Both Microsoft Windows XP and
Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) include Windows Installer 2.0 or

Project Server 2002 SP1 fixes the
following issues that were not previously documented in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base.
The Project box shows all projects in the project database
When you view the
Project box on the
NewTaskPage.asp page in Project Web Access (PWA), all projects in the project
database are listed. This issue may occur when you log on to Project Web Access
by using New Project Task permissions and you are a member of the Team Member
group.
You receive the "The page cannot be found" message if a file name contains DBCS characters
When you click the link in Project Web Access to edit a document,
and then click the
Discussion icon, you receive the "The page
cannot be found" message and the file name in the URL appears incorrectly. This
problem may occur if the file name contains DBCS characters.
All issues disappear when you filter issues in PWA
When you filter issues in your project plan on Project Web Access
(PWA), all issues may disappear.
The Project plan from Project 2000 is not published to Project Server 2002
After you publish your project plan in Microsoft Project 2000 to
your Project Server 2002 server, log on to Project Web Access as the project
manager, and then click the link for your published project plan, information
for your project plan is not found.
The Project plan is slow to open
When you try to open your project plan, the plan may take a long
time to open. This problem may occur when there are many project plans in your
project database.
You cannot publish a project plan or create a Portfolio Analyzer view
When you try to publish a project plan or create a Portfolio
Analyzer view from a client PC that is not in the same domain where the Project
Server resides, you cannot either publish your project plan or create the
custom Portfolio Analyzer view.
Notification is not sent when the submitted time is declined by the project manager
In a Project Server environment where no SNMP mail services are
available, notification is not sent for a team member who has submitted Actual
Work for a task and has had the submission declined by a project
manager.
Enterprise resources take a long time to open
When you try to open many Enterprise resources in your project
plan, the resources may take an unexpectedly long time to open.
The lookup table that is linked by RBS field does not show in Portfolio Modeler
When you link the RBS field to another field's lookup table, the
Portfolio Modeler does not show the lookup table.
You cannot remove SMTP server information in Project Web Access
After you enter information for an SMTP server on the
Notifications page in Project Web Access, you cannot remove the information
that you entered.
Actual Work does not show in a custom Assignment view
When you add Actual Work to a custom Assignment view, and then you
view your custom Assignment view, the Actual Work field does not
show.
Republishing a project plan may cause your plan to be duplicated in your project database
When you republish your project plan, your plan may be duplicated
in your project database.
You cannot add an administrator back to My Organization
After you remove the administrator from My Organization on your
project server, you cannot add the administrator back to My
Organization.
Memory may not be released after you make ADO calls in your ASP or JSCRIPT code
When you make ADO calls in your ASP or JScript code in your
project plan, memory may not be released.
Registry handles may not be released when you make PDS calls
When you make a Project Data Service (PDS) call that is not
handled by the PDS or an extension, registry handles may not be
released.
The Baseline Cost is different from the Baseline Cost that is reported by Portfolio Analyzer
When you have a 0-day duration task in your Enterprise
project plan, Baseline Cost that is reported in Project Server Portfolio
Analyzer may be different from the Baseline Cost in your project
plan.
"Spooler error: 0x0004005" error message when you first try to save a project plan
When you first try to save your project plan on a project server
that has the Windows SharePoint Services AutoWeb Create option turned on, you
may receive a "Spooler error: 0x0004005" error message.
