"Error 27705" Message Appears When You Try to Remove the Live Communications IM Archiving Service (830224)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove the Microsoft Office Live Communications 2003 IM Archiving Service component from a member server, you receive the following error message:

Error 27705. Error '0xc00e0025' setting access permissions on IM Archiving Service message queue '.\private$\RtcLog'.

After you click OK, you receive the following error message:

Error 27741. The Microsoft Live Communications IM Archiving Service Setup Wizard encountered an error during removal. As a result, you may need to manually remove some entries (for example, registry keys or WMI settings) after the wizard is closed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if one of the following conditions exists:

You are logged on to the local server (not to the domain) as a member of the built-in local Administrators group.

-or-
You are logged on to the domain with a user account that only has administrator permissions on the member server.

This behavior occurs because members of the local Administrators group do not have sufficient permissions to modify the Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) queue.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, log on to the domain as a domain administrator, and then remove the RTClog private queue in Message Queuing.
