Random text appears on section tabs in OneNote 2003 (830190)

SYMPTOMS

When you click a hyperlink that opens your Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 notebook or section file, text on the section tabs may appear as random characters, numbers, and percent signs (for example, %E3%81%A6%E3%81%99%E3%81%A6).

CAUSE

This problem may occur if all the following conditions exist:
  • You type non-English characters on a section tab.

    -and-
  • You save your OneNote 2003 section or notebook to a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not click the hyperlink to open your OneNote 2003 notebook; instead, open your OneNote 2003 notebook directly in OneNote 2003.
