FIX: Device Responds Slowly While the WaveCallbackProxyThread Function Prevents the TerminateProcess Function from Ending the Process (830177)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2

SYMPTOMS

If you call the TerminateProcess function to force the device to shut down, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • The device responds slowly to input from the input device.
  • The device seems to be unresponsive.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because a process remains in memory after you call the TerminateProcess function. If the host process is shut down by using TerminateProcess, the WaveCallbackProxyThread function in the Mmwave component may not terminate correctly. (The Mmwave component provides an audio waveform service.)

Note Use the TerminateProcess function only in extreme circumstances.
