The Systems Management Server Advanced Client does not report to the site server (830021)

SYMPTOMS

After you use the Add/Remove Programs tool to remove Microsoft Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) on a computer that is running Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, you notice that the SMS 2003 Advanced Client does not report to the SMS site server.

CAUSE

When you use the Add/Remove Programs tool to remove BITS, the Advanced Client is disabled.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall the SMS 2003 Advanced Client. By doing this, you automatically reinstall BITS. You can reinstall the Advanced Client by using the push installation method. Or, you can manually install the Advanced Client when you connect to the SMS site server and then start the Client.msi program that is located in the ServerName\SMSClient\i386 folder.
