Works: Format Patterns & Colors Lists Only Auto, Black, White (83874)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Works for Windows, the Patterns & Colors dialog box in the charting module lists only Auto, Black, and White in the Colors box. This occurs if the following conditions exist:

  • The Display As Printed option is selected.

    -and-

  • The default printer selected in the Windows Control Panel is NOT capable of printing color.
NOTE: The chart is also displayed in black and white on the screen.

RESOLUTION

Use the following instructions for your version of Works.

NOTE: If your printer is not a color printer, the chart still prints and previews in black and white.

Works 3.0 and Works for Windows 95

  • On the View menu, click Display As Printed to disable this option.

    The Format Patterns & Colors dialog box should now list all the screen colors available.

Works 2.0

  • Clear the Display As Printed command in the Options menu.

    The Format Patterns & Colors dialog box should now list all the screen colors available.
