You receive an "Internal Error" error message when you try to save your photo story project in Plus! Photo Story (829910)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you try to save a photo story project that you created in Microsoft Plus! Photo Story, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Internal Error.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you do not have sufficient random access memory (RAM) in your computer, or if the paging file is not large enough to process the number of photos in your photo story project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, increase the RAM in your computer. You must have at least 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM in your computer to use Microsoft Plus! Photo Story.

You can also try to increase the size of your virtual memory paging file. To change the size of the virtual memory paging file, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure. To change the size of the virtual memory paging file, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
  2. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance, click Settings .
  3. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory, click Change.
  4. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
  5. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB), or Maximum size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK three times.
Typically when you increase the paging file size, you do not have to restart your computer.

Notes
  • To have Microsoft Windows select the best paging file size, click System managed size. The recommended minimum size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system, and 3 times that figure for the maximum size. Example, if you have 256 MB of RAM, the minimum size would be 384, the maximum size would be 1152.
  • For best performance, do not set the initial size to less than the minimum recommended size under the total paging file size for all drives. The recommended size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system. Generally, it is a good idea to leave the paging file at its recommended size, although you might increase its size if you regularly use programs that require a lot of memory.
  • Microsoft strongly recommends that you do not disable or delete the paging file.

Note A large paging file will not compensate for a computer that does not have sufficient RAM.
